Teyan, or Tey, was a program imported by Flynn into the original Grid. He was a mercenary type, written to help with security when it was needed, though he never worked directly under Tron or "official" Security. For the most part, he offered his services where needed, keeping weaker programs out of trouble, trying to help maintain order in the system.

As chaos became more prevalent on the Grid, Tey took on more difficult jobs, going on Gridbug hunting raids with small parties, following where his strength was needed most. Not one to lead, he would join the groups that formed, do his job, then disband to find the next. While he heard the rumors of ISO involvement in terrorism, what he observed never seemed to match, so he kept his own opinions to himself.

After one particularly successful trip, Tey's group ran across a Black Guard squadron, who had been searching for more recruits. Clu's propaganda hadn't gone unnoticed by Tey and the others, and Tey hadn't been interested at the time, but was persuaded to at least listen to the option. By the time he realized what was happening, he was being swept along in the enthusiasm of his comrades as Clu himself spoke to the large group that had gathered. Maybe I can do more good this way, protect others. Maybe this is what I was programmed for. This is expected of me. Allowing himself to be upgraded and reprogrammed, Tey became one of the elite Black Guard, advancing so far as to be one of the few to stand by Clu's side.

He derezzed in the final light-jet battle over the Sea of Simulation.

Re-rezzing in the new Free Grid, Tey was restored to his original programming, but still remembers some of his experience as a Guard. Some events are hazy, and some only come to him in flashes and vague sensations. He feels an uneasiness around ISOs, due to one of the primary directives instilled in him... "Derez all ISO's." While he does not have a compulsion to do so, the feeling is one that he'd rather avoid. Guilt weighs on him for all the things he did while under Clu's control, though he knows it was not entirely his own will.

Currently, Tey works as a bouncer at one of the smaller energy bars in the city. He does not wish to return to Security, as that seems too close to his work as a Guard.

Personality-wise, Tey tends to be quiet, the strong and silent type. He'd rather follow than lead, and tends to let others talk while he listens. Due to his size and strength, his intelligence is often underestimated... others think he is all brawn and no brains.
